Welcome to Equestrian Wellness Chiropractic!
Riding is more than just a hobby, it's a lifestyle.
Hi, I'm Dr. Ellen and I am the founder & Chiropractor of Equestrian Wellness Chiropractic (EWC).
EWC is The Twin Cities' Equestrian Chiropractor. With my unique approach to spinal analysis, I go where you are...the barn! EWC is a mobile chiropractic clinic catered to the equestrian and your unique health needs.
Traveling to the riders has given me the freedom and flexibility to care for equestrians where they are most at ease. Traveling also makes it super convenient to have a patient hop on their horse to analyze the spine whenever it is necessary!
Equestrians are unique athletes with a need for a more specific analysis of the spine and extremities, which is why I have made it my life's work to help as many equestrians as possible stay in the saddle until they're 100 years old.
Why do equestrians need a specialized chiropractor?
Equestrians utilize different muscle groups and spinal posture in order to be balanced in the saddle. Many times, chiropractors will equate riding with bicycling which is not sufficient when it comes to an equestrian's spinal health. Horses are much wider than a bike which causes different stress and position of the lower extremities and the pelvis. Not only is the position different in a saddle versus a bike seat, but equestrians rely heavily on non-verbal cues to communicate with their horse. How do they communicate non-verbally? With leg cues, sitting deeper into the saddle, through contact on the reins, and body language. All of these actions are controlled by the nervous system which is housed within the spine. If the segments of the spine or pelvis are not moving properly, this causes miscommunication from the equestrian's brain to the rest of their body resulting in poor communication with the horse.
This is precisely why I have made it my mission to educate and provide chiropractic service to as many equestrians as possible. By listening to riders about issues they are having in the saddle, I am able to create a personalized health care plan that will help individuals create a stronger bond with their horse.
